NEWS: Cuba's new men and women
I don't know why this particular news story from Express Gay News caught my attention: Cuba (a politically repressive communist regime) will start paying for sex-change operations for transsexuals. The irony is that the person spearheading this human-rights issue is none other than Raul Castro's daughter, Mariela Castro.
"Cuba's current President Raúl Castro has shocked the international community — and presumably the residents of his own country — by authorizing free sex-change operations for transgendered people, thanks to strong support from his daughter, Mariela Castro-Espin.
Castro-Espin, who heads the National Center for Sex Education (CENESEX), is not shy about the role she played in the passage into law on June 4 of this year of Resolution 126, as it is known, considering it a major piece social legislation not only for Cuba but countries worldwide..."
