Naked Bike Riders Take to St. Louis Streets

Who needs Mardi Gras-style flashing when you have throngs naked people riding their bikes? St. Louis was recently the venue for the "World Naked Bike Ride," which protests America's dependence on oil.

Hundreds turned out to either ride naked (or nearly naked) for the 10-mile event, or to take pictures and leer at those riding naked. Some riders went completely nude -- like a man who took everything off except for a pink derby hat. Most covered up their bits and pieces with minimal attire like loincloths, thongs, pasties and body paint. Police were on hand, but they reportedly didn't mind the display.

The ride has been held in 70 cities since it began in 2004. There's a short video report from the event after the jump, and below are some pics from other naked protests.
